The Making of Honk
Emily Huse had been thinking about Honk for quite some time, but it sprung to life in her living room while discussing it with friends. Fellow VCU students, Beau Donner (Cinema '24), Helene O'Brien (Interior Design Candidate '25), Aaron MacDonald, (Communication Arts Candidate '25), and Kayla Buscema (Social Work Candidate '25), all took an active role in Honk's creation, prompting Emily to apply for the VCUArts Undergraduate Research Grant.

In search of an advisor, Emily went to the then head of the Cinema Department, TyRuben Ellingson (Jurassic Park, Avatar). Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the project, he sponsored Emily's grant application. When Emily was notified that she was the recipient of the grant, the film crew began its work.
